Sunrise Park
Sunrise Park
This is the city's nature park. It consists of 42 acres of land that include natural habitat. The park has been designated an official wildlife habitat by the National Wildlife Federation. There is a walking trail in the park that allows individuals to enjoy the outdoors. This trail is still in progress but usable.
It is a great place to look at different plants, trees and flowers and well as seeing animals. A few plants you may find in the park include; goldenrod, prairie coreopsis, coneflowers, iris, sunflowers, prairie rose, butterfly weed, black and brown-eyed Susan.
The park also includes a variety of prairie grass, such as Indian grass, switch grass, blue stem, Canada wild rye and wheat grass.
There are no motorized vehicles allowed in the park.
An attempt is being made in having cross country snow trails in Sunrise Nature Park. Please do not snow shoe, walk or let pets walk on the "set" cross country ski trail. Space on the trail is provided next to the ski trail. On a side note, all pets must be on a leash at all times.
